Fun with Lovable: Exploring AI in Design and Creativity

Be friends with AI. Be open to learning cross-domain skills.

TLDR
  • Grace spent a free-access weekend on Lovable, using Claude to build and test apps.
  • She built landing pages, login flows, Supabase storage, Google and LinkedIn sign-up, and GitHub sync.
  • Two things came out of it: a global job comparison platform and an AI Strategy League demo site.
  • The more specific the prompt, the better the build. Say where a button goes and what it does.

This past weekend was amazing—Lovable was offering free access, and I was excited to explore it without using paid credits. I used Claude to create projects and build apps, all for free.

Users were also encouraged to compare AI models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, and join their community competition, also free.

For me, I focused on using Claude to build and test apps, especially from a design and user experience perspective.

What I Tested and Built:

  • Landing Pages: I designed and tested various landing page layouts.

  • Authentication: I created login/sign-up flows, with working authentication.

  • Supabase Integration:

    • Connected to Supabase for easy data storage.

    • Synced authentication flow.

    • Turned off email confirmation in the “Auth Providers” settings to simplify first-time sign-in.

  • Third-party Sign-up:

    • Enabled sign-up via Google and LinkedIn, in addition to email input.

  • GitHub Sync:

    • Synced all code to GitHub for version control.

  • Edge Functions & Features:

    • Added features like email notifications, payments etc.

  • SQL Exploration:

    • Played with SQL queries generated from prompts—fun and useful!

Experience with Lovable:

  • Despite high user activity (which sometimes slowed the servers), the platform remained mostly smooth and responsive.

  • The in-app chat with Lovable was incredibly useful—it provided seamless links to Supabase for quick access and setup.

  • The prompt-to-build experience worked best when I was very specific with my requests (e.g., clearly stating where a button should be placed or what behavior I wanted to trigger).

What I loved most was that, through the chat interface with Lovable, it seamlessly provided clickable links to open Supabase, making it easy to connect, configure, and manage authentication settings directly within the platform.

Turn off email confirmation so that users don’t need to verify their email before signing in for the first time.

Set up sign-up options for Google and LinkedIn in addition to email input during registration.

I had fun reviewing the SQL it generated based on my prompts.

What I Built:

  • A Platform for Comparing Global Job Opportunities

    • Allows users to explore and compare job openings across markets.

    • Includes detailed filters for customisation and discovery.

A Demo Site for AI Strategy League

  • While I didn’t deploy it fully, it served as a strong visual and functional demo for repositioning the brand.

  • AI Strategy League is something I founded, rooted in my international experience (from big tech to local agencies), multicultural background, and AI expertise.

→It focuses on helping businesses expand and grow powered by AI-powered across global markets. AI can be fun, creative, and capable of delivering tangible results.

Summary

Overall, the experience was great:

  • Smooth performance, intuitive design based on the prompts

  • Helpful in troubleshooting issues during the build process.

  • The more detailed your prompts are, the better the results you’ll get. For example, specify the type of button you want and exactly where it should be placed—clarity matters.
